The expertise offered by the Studio Bouwfonds MAB varies widely, ranging from retail concepts to urban planning, and from the development of architectural details to master planning. The Studio focuses not only on commercial real estate projects and mixed use projects, but also on residential building projects, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The Studio’s contribution covers the following five areas:
Acquisition A strong concept can help clients overcome their initial hesitation. Studio’s experts can provide new ideas and help acquire insight. A concept is always developed by combining a range of expertise and describes the essential characteristics of a product based on four factors: space, use, social feasibility and commercial feasibility.
Projects Concept development is all about teamwork. At the Studio, the quality of a particular project in relation to its feasibility can be discussed in-house, which is an added value. The Studio places the users’ perspective first, more so than with external architects. The Studio advises the project team in choosing an architect or urban planner, and serves as the professional link between the development manager and external architectures.
Market development The Studio explores designs for new markets in the future. What are the trends? What opportunities are arising in the cities? Where is it going to happen? This valuable Research & Development function complements the work of the research group and management for new markets.
Knowledge bank and knowledge development The Studio is responsible for making the inventiveness and innovative power of the various regional and foreign offices accessible to offices based in other areas, thereby enabling them to be further developed directly.
Discussion on architecture and urban planning The Studio is responsible for putting architecture and urban planning on the company agenda. The purpose of this is not the discussion itself, but it serves as a way of nurturing concepts and projects. It is not about taste or about whether something is ugly or beautiful; what matters is appropriateness. What architectural styles best suit a particular area? What type of architecture is needed to give shape to urban development projects and realise a particular concept?
