In 2004, Rabo Real Estate Group closed an agreement with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This established that Rabo Real Estate Group will use sustainably-produced wood with the FSC Quality mark in 20 percent of all of its new housing developments in The Netherlands. Rabo Real Estate Group is the first major project developer to have taken such a step.

Rabo Real Estate Group is constantly taking account of the social context in which it is operating. The decision to use sustainably-produced materials is a part of this. The use of FSC- wood fits in excellently with our approach.

FSC Nederland is an institute by and for companies which actively stimulates the use of FSC-wood in close cooperation with environmental and developmental organizations. The quality mark of the FSC is the only quality mark for wood from demonstrably well-managed forests which has the support of the business community and social organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, Vereniging Milieudefensie (Dutch Environmental Defence Union), Novib (Dutch Organisation for International Aid) and Stichting DOEN! (Dutch Institute for Sustainable Development, Culture, and the Common Good).
