Property corporations are faced with a major social challenge: a large-scale restructuring project (in 56 neighbourhoods) throughout the Netherlands, and the responsibility of carrying out large-scale new development programmes.
As of 2006, residential property corporations are also required to contribute substantially to the cost of the rent allowance (an amount totalling EUR 250 million per year). Although several ‘matching initiatives’ were launched in order to fund these efforts, these initiatives are not being fully realised. This is compounded by the fact that sales programmes often run behind schedule, which jeopardises the ability to fund future social challenges and increases the financial pressure on corporations.
The Residential Property Disposition Fund is a unique proposition – the key to creating greater financial scope for residential property corporations.

Background of the Fund
- The Residential Property Disposition Fund was established to increase the ability to fund future social challenges for corporations.
- The Fund provides corporations with an amount equal to roughly 90% of the vacant value of rented property. In some cases, based on strategic stock management and market developments, corporations may wish to either divest themselves of residential complexes or prefer that they be sold by another party.
- In due course, the Residential Property Disposition Fund sells the residential units to tenants or interested private buyers. Thanks to an alliance between the property corporation, Bouwfonds and Stienstra, all the expertise available will be used to its full potential – with the corporation reaping the benefits of the initiative.
